Mood swings, weight gain and obesity, high cholesterol, insulin sensitivity, diabetes, heart disease, cardiovascular disease, yeast infection, immune system depression, mineral unbalance, hyperactivity, anxiety, depression, concentration difficulties, crankiness, kidney damage, tooth decay, acidic stomach, aging process speed up, wrinkles, grey hair, osteoporosis, allergies, free radical formation, eczema, atherosclerosis, liver size and fat increase, fluid retention, hormonal imbalance and headaches.
These are only some of the side effect of sugar.
Although above list is really scary, I still firmly believe that the worst side effect of sugar is addiction; studies has proven that sugar can hijack the brain in ways that resemble addictions to cocaine, nicotine and other drugs.
And all the above frighten me even more when I think about the sugar attack we are experiencing these days especially in cheap junk food available at the 24h convenience stores, Dias, Lianhuas and City Shops; “Avoid the candies, the muffins and other sweets and you will be fine” I tell to myself. Mhhh..yeah right! Yesterday I went to purchase seaweed (SEAWEED!!) and the ingredient list said:
Dried Laver 海苔
Sesame oil 麻油
