Have you ever wondered what’s the best Yoga pose?
Well, it really depends on what you are aiming for; stretching your back? Strengthening your arms? Gaining focus and concentrations? All very good points, but if I had to pick one over all the other asanas, I would follow the indications of Hatha Yoga Pradipika, the oldest surviving text on the hatha yoga:
Paschimottanasana is the best among asanas. By this asana the pranic currents rise through sushumna. The digestive fire increases. The abdomen becomes flat and the practitioner becomes free from diseases.
In other words, the Intense West Stretch:
Balances the energy within the body
Massages the internal organs, especially the digestive organs and relieves digestive problems (such as constipation)
Burns abdominal adipose tissue
Invigorates the nervous and immunity systems
