Today we wanted to talk about one of the most alkaline foods on earth: lemon!
Every day we shall aim to drink around 3 litres of water. Yes, you heard us right! You live in an extremely hot and humid country so you should increase your water intake to around 3 litres a day.
Considering that a sip of water is around 16 ml and that there are around 62 sips in a litre of water, you should aim toward 200 sips of water every day. But did you know that you could make those sips count even more?
Lemons and limes are an incredibly alkaline food, believe it or not. Yes, they are acidic on their own, but inside our bodies they are alkaline and can help counteract the acidity of some of the foods we consume every day. From coffee, refined sugar and flours, to meat, eggs, fish and cheese, all these foods can create chronic diseases when consumed chronically.
A simple way to fight some of these negative effects is by adding lemon or lime juice to your water. In addition to be better for you, lemon and lime juice will make water more refreshing and even more palatable.
Where can you find lemons and limes? Try The Organik Shop, Organica, Nam An or Annam. You can also find them at An Phu Supermarket and at your local market.
You can juice them with a juicer (make sure you peal them first as the peal is extremely bitter!!!) or juice with the more traditional manual spinning or pressing juicers.
