The typical modern diet is, unfortunately, starting to consist primarily of toxic and acid-forming foods like processed sugars, artificial sweeteners, refined grains, conventionally produced meats and dairy, and hidden genetically modified organisms.


Our body is build to keep a neutral Ph in order to function at its best and avoid the developing of chronic, degenerative illnesses or otherwise deadly conditions for which modern conventional medicine claims to have no known cure.

In order to do so, it is essential that a person learns that we need to keep our body at a slightly alkaline level of 7.365 in order to survive. We ingest too many acid-forming foods that draw from our own stores, like the bones or other vital tissues, the elements we need to rebalance our Ph. – damaging its ability to repair itself and detoxify heavy metals, thereby making a person more vulnerable to fatigue and illness. Because stress and pollution can also lower our body Ph, it is better to always ingest plenty of alkalising foods, it is easier for our body to bring the Ph down, then to bring it up.

Foods’ Ph in nature and after ingested can vary, and it is important to learn which one can help us bring our internal Ph to the natural level. A classic example is lemons, acidic in nature, but alkalising inside the body.

My favourite 5 alkaline and alkalising foods to eat every day are:

1- Lemon / limes (organic – Mekostar is a great brand): add a few slices to your water and sip it throughout the day. Nothing more refreshing and good for you!

2- Cruciferous vegetables: broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower and Brussels sprouts; they cook in 4 minutes and are always filling! Cook a bunch at the beginning of the week, and keep them ready in a tupperware in the fridge.

3- Dates: great for athletes! These delicious fruit can be a great companion for long rides and runs. 30 grams has the same carbohydrate contents as a GU gel without the refined sugar and the

4- Green tea; we all love a chick of energy, but why don’t we choose the one that is actually rich in antioxidants and good for us? Ditch the coffee and brew some tea.

5- Sweet potatoes; my favourite of all the starches. Delicious, grounding and sweet, sweet potatoes can also make you say no to dessert, thanks to their natural sweetness!
